Get Your Life Back with Varicose Vein Treatment

Varicose veins are a genetic condition that is chronic and progressive. While there is no surefire way to prevent them if they run in your family, there are many treatment options available that are minimally invasive and highly effective.

We’ve seen many patients through the years and are honored to have helped so many in their journey towards better health.

While varicose veins can falsely be thought of as a cosmetic problem, they can cause painful, sometimes debilitating symptoms. For example, East Tennessee Vein Clinic patient Greg Hall came to us after experiencing severe swelling in his lower legs.

“One look at my legs and [Dr. Douglass] knew what it was,” he said in a recent review.

Dr. Douglass performed a diagnostic ultrasound to map Greg’s veins, confirming a diagnosis of lymphedema. Insurance covered his treatment.

“He has a great staff and they take top notch care of you,” Greg added.

As Greg discovered, the visible symptoms of varicose vein disease are just the tip of the iceberg. Pain, swelling and even ulcers are common symptoms of varicose veins. Take patient Marcilla Fox Smith for example, who suffered for years from painful varicose veins. She experienced severe swelling in her legs and feet and had stasis ulcers that covered most of the lower half of her legs.

“This went on for years,” she said. “The wonderful people at East Tennessee Vein Clinic worked diligently to help me. Since the treatment I received there, I have not had one single stasis ulcer, and the swelling in my legs and feet is not even enough to inconvenience me.”

She said that East Tennessee Vein Clinic gave her her life back!

What is diagnostic ultrasound for varicose veins?

Our diagnostic ultrasound is helpful because much of vein disease is hidden under the surface of the skin. What you can see is often just the tip of the iceberg, and our ultrasound allows us to see the entire network of vein disease.

Dr. Andrew Douglass uses this to assess the extent of your vein disease.

The ultrasound is completely noninvasive and painless. Most people are familiar with ultrasounds being used during pregnancy, and this is the same technology. Seeing the blood flow and the venous network in real time allows us to know exactly how to treat your varicose veins. If there are any malfunctioning valves in your veins, we will be able to see it.

There is no risk associated with the ultrasound, and it involves no radiation.

Our ultrasound will also be used during your procedures to pinpoint the area needing treatment.

Don’t wait to treat varicose veins

Varicose veins don’t get better with time. There’s nothing you can do to fix the problem, although you can treat painful symptoms by:

  • Wearing compression stockings
  • Avoiding sitting or standing for too long
  • Exercising regularly
  • Elevating your legs

We offer a wide variety of varicose vein treatment options and are sure to find the combination that works best for you.

Varicose veins are chronic and progressive, and there is no cure other than treating the issue at its root. Today’s treatments are minimally invasive and can be performed in-office.

Schedule your free vein screening today and you’ll be back to the life you love in no time, just like Greg and Marcilla.

“I am so thankful that I met such a wonderful and caring Doctor and staff who treated me wonderful and cared about me. May God bless each and everyone.”
